Two Lists from Two Personal Development Writers That Will Kickstart Your Year
The transition between the old year to the new year has always been a good time to reflect and plan for the year ahead. Two personal development lists I wanted to share.
I like to spend the transition period immersing in personal development material whether it’s a book, webinars, or podcasts. It helps to replenish my energy and mind.
One of the personal development items I wanted to share is from Brendon Burchard. If you haven’t heard of Brendon, check out his GrowthDay app and books (there are no affiliate links).
Brendon Burchard’s — What Not To do list
On one of his webinars, he shared this “What Not To Do List”. It’s a powerful list that I keep on my desk and on my phone as a reminder.
It may seem obvious but reminders are always helpful to help you break through the day-to-day grind and create awareness. This helps you to create space to do things and think differently.
Don’t minimize yourself.
Don’t minimize others.
Don’t burn out.
Don’t participate in drama and gossip.
Don’t forget to celebrate and integrate the wins.
Don’t forget to love.
Don’t forget to have adventure.
Don’t lie, cheat, steal, or harm others.
Ryan Holiday’s Stoic Goals
Ryan Holiday is a well know writer on Stoicism. These are Stoic goals he sets that I’ve found empowering because it’s all on you. It’s not dependent on outside factors.
Get one small win per day
Don’t be overheard complaining
Demand the best of yourself
Do only what is essential
Don’t suffer imagined troubles
See every day as a bonus.
If you like to learn more about Stoicism, check out his website Dailystoic.com.
Personal development is important to replenish your mind and spirit. You don’t have to spend money on it and it can take many forms.
In this new year, take some time out each week for yourself. Learn, recharge, get healthy and work on what is important for you.
